Christmas celebration

Ahhhh, Christmas. A time filled with so many joys. Presents shared with loved ones, memories made that last a lifetime, and make childhood extra special, an abundance of food (and possibly too much to drink), and classic films and shows that only come out to play at Christmas. Let’s run through a few reasons as to why Christmas IS the best holiday.

Variety of Dishes

  1. Hearty Main Dishes – Let’s start with the food! The centrepiece of any great Christmas dinner are the beautiful meats on show. When mum or dad have been up since 4 am, basting, checking, glazing the turkey, or getting that beautiful beef prepared, or that whole chicken nice and crispy, and those succulent smells waft through the house, it’s all worth it when they are laid on, ready to eat. You could go up-market, with some Christmas gourmet food, and make the dinner even more special.
  2. Comforting Sides – Mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, roasted parsnips, all the vegetables, and then apple and cranberry sauce. Please stop – I’m salivating at the mouth!
  3. Special Desserts – Whether it’s a traditional Christmas pudding, fruitcake, or something special in your home, you’ll always find room for the sweet thing at the end of the meal.

Festive Atmosphere

  1. Music and Ambiance – Whether this is at home, at your favourite watering hole, or when you are out doing some Christmas shopping, the month of December just brings with it a different feel. Those traditional Christmas songs along with everybody just having a little more pep in their step, truly sets Christmas apart.
  2. The Lights and Decorations – Often, people will decorate their homes with amazing lightshows, reindeers, Santa’s, and all different types of Christmassy characters. Out and about and around town, you’ll see light adorned on buildings, in the streets, and in shops, all adding to that festive spirit. Take a look here for some great Christmas decoration ideas.

Togetherness

  1. Family and Friends – It’s a time of year to be thankful for all the good we have in our lives, and to cherish the friends and family we have. Christmas brings people together with gift sharing, and traditions within family and friend groups, and can help create a sense of community and togetherness.
  2. Holiday Conversations – We may not be lucky enough to see friends and family as often as we would like, but Christmas always provides a great opportunity to get together and make time for those special ones in our lives. Whether it’s a chat over dinner, a few beers or cocktails down the pub or in a bar, or at home, it’s a beautiful occasion and time to talk about the past year, and to reminisce on the past, leading to the best memories and a lot of laughter. Maybe a hangover or three!

Christmas – make it one not to forget, with great food, an amazing atmosphere, plenty of drinks, and the joy of sharing this fantastic time of the year with the people you love most around you. Click here for more information where you are.
