If your baby is seven months older or so and is having difficulty in pooping, then it may be a sign of constipation.

If you see your newborn baby getting a bit fussier and irritated all the time if they don’t eat and are having difficulty while passing stools, this could be the symptoms of a constipated baby. Foods to eat to ease your baby’s constipation

You can start incorporating these foods as soon as they start eating whole and semi-solid foods other than milk.

  • Checking hydration levels
  • Giving them soft and slimy food like skinless apples, peaches, oranges, and pears
  • Boiled and pasted broccolis
  • Fiber-rich foods like oatmeal and cereals

In the initial weeks, when babies are breastfed, colostrum in the milk works as a laxative resulting in no constipation.

What are the symptoms of a constipated baby?

Symptoms that can be a trigger for a constipated and gassy baby can differ in so many ways. About 30% of babies are constipated all the time.

  • If your baby is particularly irritated and uncomfortable
  • Rejecting everything that is eatable and looks like food
  • Pooping one to two times a week or not at all
  • Fussing and crying due to abdominal pain
  • The slightly warm temperature of the body

What to do to solve your baby’s constipation problems?

It is normal for babies who are six months older and so to get constipated, meaning their body is adjusting to a new diet and so forth will continue the same. Meanwhile, you can try some home remedies to ease your baby’s constipation.

  • Try breastfeeding or formula milk as it has colostrum, as mentioned earlier
  • Make them drink all the juicy foods like fruit juice, tender coconut water(check with a pediatrician)
  • A slightly warmer food and drink can ease out poop passing
  • If they are constantly fussy and irritated, take them out for little walks to relieve the exhaustion

If still your baby is not pooping at all and constantly gassy, and those home remedies have not worked out for you, then this might be the time when you consult your baby doctor or pediatrician. They will check your baby’s symptoms and provide medications that will soon ease your baby’s constipation so that they can poop and sleep peacefully.
